Allahumma k-fini bi halalika ‘an haramika wa gh-nini bi fadlika ‘amman siwaka

بِسْمِ اللهِ، تَوَكَّلْـتُ عَلى اللهِ وَلا حَوْلَ وَلا قُـوَّةَ إِلاّ بِالله

Bismillahi tawakkaltu ‘ala l-lahi wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa bi l-lah

As a sign in the name of Allah In the name of Allah am putting my faith in Allah and I am sure that Allah is the only power or strength that is not ruled by Allah. (Abu Dawud)

Du’a before Entering Ihram

You could be entering your own in the air of your country, or in the air or traveling towards Makkah in Madinah. It is an integral element of your Umrah and here’s the du’a that you should say before entering the state.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أُرِيْدُ الْعُمْرَةَ فَيَسِّرْهَا لِيْ وَتَقَبَّلْهَا مِنِّيْ

Allahumma inni uridu l-‘umrata fa yassirha li wa taqabbalha minni

O Allah I will do Umrah and accept the obligation for me, and then make it easier for me.

The Talbiyah

I am present! O Allah I am present! There isn’t a single person who shares You. I am present! The praise and glory are due to Your and the supreme authority. There isn’t a single person who can be associated with You! (Muslim)

Du’a when Entering the Masjid

On arrival at Makkah to perform an Umrah or Hajj and you’ll be amazed and awed by the stunning Masjid’s structure and the gates. Don’t be a slave to the du’a to enter the masjid before making your way into the masjid.

اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ

Allahumma f-tah li abwaba rahmatika

O Allah! O Allah! Open the doors to Your mercy for me. (Al-Nasai)

Du’a while looking at the Ka’abah

اللَّهُمَّ زِدْ هَذَا البَيْتَ تَشْريفًا وَتَعْظِيمًا وَتَكْرِيمًا وَمَهَابَةً، وَزِدْ مِن شَرَّفَهُ وكَرمَهُ مِمَّنْ حَجَّه أو اعْتَمَرَه تَشْرِيفًا وَتَكْرِيمًا وَتَعْظِيمًا وَبِرًّا

Allahumma zid hadha l-bayta tashrifan wa ta’ziman wa takriman wa mahabatan, wa zid man sharrafahu wa karramahu mimman hajjahu wa’tamarahu tashrifan wa ta’ziman wa takriman wa birran

O Allah! Make this House more honoured and reverence, and respect and reverence and increase the number of people who revere and honor it as pilgrims to Hajj as well as Umrah in the highest regard and with awe and respectability and the righteousness of (Ibn Abd al-Barr Ibn Taymiyyah)

Du’a after Every Prayer

Allahumma imanan bika wa tasdiqan bi kitabika wa sunnati nabiyyika salla l-lahu ‘alayhi wa sallam

When you are in tawaf, it is in the sunnah to repeat the following du’a during the last straight of every round.

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Rabbana atina fi d-dunya hasanah wa fi l-akhirati hasanah wa qina ‘adhaba n-nar

Our Lord! We ask you to grant us a successful life in this one as well as succeed in the next and shield us from the fire! [Q, 2:201]

Du’a when Drinking Zamzam

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

Allahumma inni as’aluka ‘ilman nafi’an wa rizqan tayyiban wa ‘amalan mutaqabbalan

O Allah! I beg you to grant me beneficial information, pure nourishment and accepted actions. (Ibn Majah)

Du’a during Arafah

This day in Arafah is among the most memorable days of the entire Hajj. Millions of pilgrims stand and praying all day long, performing du’as to Allah for all good things in this world and in the coming one. Be sure to have your list of du’as ready to go through this day. During the time, you are also able to say the following:

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

La ilaha illa l-lahu wahdahu la sharika lahu lahu l-mulku wa lahu l-hamdu wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadir

The only God other than Allah only, and without companion or partner He is the sole ruler His is the supreme power, every praise and glory is His. All goodness is His He is the one who grants life and death, and has the power to govern all everything. (Al-Tirmidhi)

Du’a, when greeting the other Pilgrims

After you have completed the Hajj and congratulating other Hajji or interacting with an Hajji who is returning home, you may say the following du’a:

قَبِلَ اللهُ حَجَّكَ وَكَفَّرَ ذَنْبَكَ وَأَخْلَفَ نَفَقَتَكَ

Qabila l-lahu hajjaka wa kaffara dhambaka wa akhlafa nafaqata

We pray Allah be pleased with your Hajj and cleanse you of your sins and replenish your food. (Al-Tabarani)

Du’a at the time of entering Madinah

After or prior to Hajj or Umrah Groups will typically go to Madinah and stay there for prayer at Masjid Nabawi, give salam to the Prophet (SAW) and relax in the peace that is felt in the city.

اَللهُمَّ هَذَا حَرَمُ نَبِيِّكَ فَاجْعَلْهُ وِقَايَةً لِيْ مِنَ النَّارِ وَآمِنَّا مِنْ الْعَذَابِ وَسُوْءِ الْحِسَابِ

Allahumma hadha haramu nabiyyika fa j-‘alhu wiqayatan li mina n-nari wa aminna mina l-‘adhabi wa su’i l-hisabi

O Allah! This is the Holy Precinct that is the Sacred Precinct Your Prophet, therefore ensure it is a safeguard for me from the fire as well as a safeguard against being punished and a bad reckoning. (Al-Ikhtiyar)

Du’a when Returning Home

When you have finished your Hajj or journey, you may repeat the following verses as you get back home:

آيِبُونَ تَائِبُونَ عَابِدُونَ لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ

Ayibuna ta’ibuna ‘abiduna li rabbina hamiduna

(We are the ones) who return, repent, who worship their Lord, and praise Him. (Muslim)

Are Angels making Du’as for you?

According to hadith, when you perform du’a for your companions Muslim when they are not around angels perform their du’a to you. Make the most of your time on Hajj and Umrah to create as many du’as as you can for your beloved ones, your family friends, and all in the Muslim Ummah.
Abu Darda reported: The Messenger of Allah Peace and blessings upon him, declared, ” No Muslim servant prays for his brother in secret behind his back however, the angel said”And for you, exactly the same. (Sahih Muslim)”
