Mohammad Kashif and Areeb Ahmad, graduates of the Department of Mechanical Engineering within JMI’s Faculty of Engineering and Technology, accomplished a remarkable feat by being part of ISRO’s recent lunar mission. Having completed their Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) degrees in 2019, they showcased their exceptional skills and dedication on a global stage.

ISRO Recruitment Triumph

In 2019, Kashif and Ahmad demonstrated their expertise by successfully passing ISRO’s Centralized Recruitment Board exam for the Scientist/Engineer position. This achievement underscored their exceptional qualifications and aptitude in the field of space exploration.

Outstanding Performance Recognized

The outcome of their hard work and commitment became evident in September 2021 when ISRO declared the exam results. Mohammad Kashif not only secured the top position in the examination but also showcased his prowess in the domain of space science. Additionally, Areeb Ahmad’s selection for the Scientist/Engineer [SC-Mechanical (Post No. BR002)] position further highlighted his proficiency and dedication to the field.

Chandrayaan-3: India’s Remarkable Lunar Exploration

The culmination of ISRO’s efforts came in the form of Chandrayaan-3, the third space exploration mission by India. Launched in 2023, this mission marked a historic milestone as India became the first country in the world to successfully land on the Moon’s south pole. At the heart of Chandrayaan-3 are the Vikram Lander and the Pragyan rover, which have both achieved successful lunar landings and commenced the collection of valuable samples.
